Elderly Bicyclist Struck, Killed By Car In OC

A 93-year-old man riding a bicycle in Orange County was struck and killed by a vehicle Tuesday.

WESTMINSTER, CA — A 93-year-old bicyclist was struck and killed by a vehicle in Westminster Tuesday, police said.

Officers responded near the intersection of Newland Street and Bolsa Avenue around 4:15 p.m. Tuesday in response to a crash involving a bicyclist who was bleeding and lying in the roadway, the Westminster Police Department reported.

The victim was unresponsive upon the arrival of officers and was immediately given life-saving measures until Orange County Fire Department paramedics arrived to the scene. They later pronounced the man dead.

The driver was cooperative and remained at the location while detectives conducted their investigation.

Westminster Police Department Traffic Bureau detectives took over the investigation and did not determine drugs or alcohol were contributing factors to the collision.

The victim's name was not released.
