Employees Fight Back In Smash-And-Grab Robbery In Huntington Beach

The employees of a Huntington Beach jewelry shop fought back when a group of thieves attempted to rob them on Sunday, authorities say.

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA — Employees working at a local jewelry store in Huntington Beach fought back after a smash-and-grab robbery was attempted on their store, NBC Los Angeles reported Sunday.

The robbery took place around noon Sunday at the Princess Bride Diamonds jewelry store in the Bella Terra shopping center, 7821 Edinger Ave., according to a news release posted by the Huntington Beach Police Department.

Store employees told NBC Los Angeles that they knew something was wrong when a group of people with hoods came into the store.

Store employee Dallas Baca said that after one of the robbers smashed a glass display case, several employees began fighting back by punching and kicking the suspects, NBC Los Angeles reported.

One employee even threw a chair at a robber, Baca said. The thieves then left the scene.

The Huntington Beach Police Department is investigating the case. It is not currently known how many suspects were involved in the attempted robbery.
