ORANGE COUNTY, CA — Orange County locals were captivated by a rare sight after a snowy owl was seen on the rooftop of a Cypress home Wednesday, KTLA reported.

Dozens of residents and bird enthusiasts gathered at a home near Orangewood Avenue and Holder Street in Cypress to watch the owl resting on the roof.

"I live right down the street, so it’s for me as a birder, it was really fantastic to see yesterday that this bird was within a walking distance of my house," one birdwatcher told KTLA.

“He’s just comfortable and roosting up there and looking at all of us, looking at him,” another local said.

The snowy owl's visit was noted as a rare occurrence, as the bird's habitat is typically much colder, leaving many residents wondering how the winter bird arrived to Orange County.
