Family Narrowly Escapes House Blaze That Killed 1 Dog In OC

GARDEN GROVE, CA — A family narrowly escaped a fire at their home in Orange County but lost one of their dogs in the flames Monday, authorities said.

The fire broke out at around 10:50 p.m. Monday at a home on Flannel Avenue in Garden Grove, the Orange County Fire Authority said.

Fire crews were able to knock down the growing blaze in just 13 minutes.

One firefighter was taken to a hospital for precautionary evaluation as a result of the fire.

In addition, one resident sustained minor injuries while rescuing their four dogs, with one dog found dead at the scene, firefighters said.

Anaheim and Garden Grove fire departments assisted in knocking down the fire.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
