Flood Advisory For Orange County

ORANGE COUNTY, CA — The National Weather Service alerted residents of Orange County that an urban and small stream flood advisory was under effect Monday until 5 p.m.

Doppler radar indicated precipitation increasing in coverage across Orange County and the Inland Empire, they said

Steady precipitation was expected to continue across the coastal slopes of the San Bernardino mountains, with rainfall rates of 0.10 to 0.20 inches per hour expected, they said. There was nearly .40 inches per hour expected with the strongest showers, and along the coastal slopes.

After a weekend of solid rain, the ground has been saturated. "Enough runoff was expected for small stream flooding and areas of urban flooding for low lying roadways and intersections," they said.

Rain was expected to continue falling through 5 p.m.

• Santa Ana
• Irvine
• Huntington Beach
• Garden Grove
• Ontario

Drivers were reminded to "turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads," the NWS said. "Most flood deaths occur in vehicles."
