Girl, 12, Struck By Hit-And-Run Vehicle While Walking To School In OC

The hit-and-run left the preteen fighting for her life in a local hospital Wednesday.

SANTA ANA, CA — A 12-year-old girl was struck by a hit-and-run driver while walking to school in Santa Ana Wednesday, leaving her fighting for her life at a hospital while police searched for the suspect.

The girl was hit at about 8 a.m. at Newhope Street and McFadden Avenue as she was walking to school at Fitz Intermediate Language Academy, according to the Santa Ana Police Department.

The girl, who was not identified by authorities, was taken to a hospital in critical condition and was undergoing surgery, according to SAPD Officer Natalie Garcia.

Police have a Ring doorbell photo of the suspect vehicle, which is a blue, newer-model Honda that is lowered and has black-tinted windows, black rims and a black bumper, Garcia said.
