Hazmat Team Investigates Rancho Mission Viejo Starbucks Sunday

RANCHO MISSION VIEJO, CA — A hazardous materials team investigated a Rancho Mission Viejo Starbucks on Sunday, after four employees complained of shortness of breath while at work, the Orange County Register reported.

The three employees, who were not identified by authorities, were taken to the hospital after they left the Starbucks on Sendero Marketplace near Gateway Place and Antonio Parkway after 2 p.m., shortly after they said they began experiencing systems, the report said.

Fire paramedics came to the scene and treated the employees, Capt. Thanh Nguyen of the Orange County Fire Authority told the OC Register. By the time the employees were being treated by fire paramedics, they were no longer experiencing symptoms of shortness of breath, he said.

The employees were taken to the hospital to be evaluated, the report said.

After initial investigations, a hazardous materials team later said that there was no chemical leak inside the store but crews were continuing to check nearby businesses for a possible cause, the report said.
