Hit And Run Suspect Caught: Anaheim Police

A tip from the public has led to the arrest of an Anaheim driver suspected of leaving the scene of a fatal accident this week, police say.

ANAHEIM, CA — An arrest has been made in a fatal hit and run from last weekend, according to the Anaheim Police Department.

APD Traffic Investigators have arrested a 47 year old man thought to be responsible for the death of a pedestrian during a hit and run collision on Saturday, April 28, 2018, Anaheim Police Sgt. Daron Wyatt said.

"Kelven Ta was arrested Tuesday afternoon after a tip from the public led investigators to his vehicle in the 2100 block of W. Juno Avenue," he said.

APD Officers were dispatched to Brookhurst Street south of Ball Road around 9:45 p.m. Saturday evening, after being notified there was a body in the roadway.

"Officers found a 54 year old male deceased in the roadway," Wyatt said. "Evidence suggested the man had been struck by a vehicle, possibly a silver Honda or Acura, but the driver and vehicle had fled the scene."

APD sought the public’s help through social media and the media in looking for a silver vehicle missing the driver’s side mirror, which led to the discovery of Ta’s 2002 silver Acura 3.2 TLS parked on Juno Avenue.

Ta has been booked for felony hit and run causing injury or death. He was booked at the Anaheim Detention Facility and was released on the statutorily imposed bond of $100,000 pending court proceedings.
