This Holiday Season Give the Gift of Life to Pets at OC Animal Care

As an animal lover and resident of Orange County, I believe that every homeless pet should have the opportunity to enjoy a loving home. But unfortunately this isn’t so for the pets at OC Animal Care (OCAC). This shelter, which is funded by tax dollars, has a practice of killing healthy and adoptable pets. Please note that I use the term “killing” and not “euthanasia” because many of these homeless pets are not irremediably suffering or a threat to the community. They are simply the innocent victims of the failure of leadership to focus on animal lifesaving. This responsibility lies completely with Monica Schmidt, the shelter director and county managers.

As animal lovers and residents of the OC please share this message and ask that they send a message or call county officials. Ask them to reform OCAC and bring it to the standards deserving of one of the wealthiest counties in the country. Please request that they do their job and implement the Strategic Plan, developed by national experts in 2018 and never utilized.
