ORANGE COUNTY, CA — A minimum-security inmate walked away Wednesday evening from the California Correctional Center Parlin Fork Conservation Camp in Mendocino County, according to officials with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

Richard Solorzano, 32, a camp cook at the Fort Bragg facility, was not in his assigned bunk at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, a spokesperson for the department said. He was apprehended one day later just outside of camp grounds, officials say, adding that Solorzano will no longer be eligible to be housed in a Conservation Camp.

Officers searched the camp buildings and grounds but found no sign of him, Lt. Adelaido Rodriguez said. Solorzano was last seen at 7 p.m. wearing state-issued orange shirt and pants.

Solorzano is one of about 100 minimum-custody inmates at the Parlin Fork Conservation Camp, according to Rodriguez. He was committed to the facility from Orange County in September 2017 on an eight-year sentence for convictions on first-degree burglary and assault with a deadly weapon. His scheduled parole date is August 2022.

While officials issued the statewide alert for the missing inmate, they were confident they would capture him.

"Since 1977, 99 percent of all offenders who have left an adult institution, camp or community-based program without permission have been apprehended," Rodriguez said.

Along with the alert, the office of Correctional Safety, CAL FIRE, the California Highway Patrol and local law enforcement agencies have been notified and are assisting in the search.

Solorzano is a Hispanic male, 5 feet, 7 inches tall, weighing 170 pounds and with brown
eyes. He is bald with a mustache and a goatee.

Anyone who sees Solorzano should contact 911 or law enforcement authorities immediately. Anyone who has information about his location should contact the CCC watch commander at 530257-2181, ext. 4173.
