Intense Winds Continue In Orange County

A wind advisory was in place Wednesday for Inland Orange County, raising the potential for downed trees and power lines, the NWS warned.

ORANGE COUNTY, CA — A wind advisory for Inland Orange County remained in place until noon, Wednesday, the National Weather Service alerted. Gusts in excess of 35-miles an hour were possible, they said.

Across the Southland, winds strong enough to plague drivers and topple trees and power lines lashed away. The wind advisory was to be in effect until noon in the San Gabriel Mountains, the Santa Monica Mountains Recreational Area, the San Fernando and Santa Clarita valleys, the coastal zone consisting beach cities, metropolitan Los Angeles, Downtown L.A and the Hollywood Hills, but it was canceled shortly after 9 a.m.

National Weather Service forecasters had said winds of 25 to 35 miles per hour with 55-mph gusts would blow across the San Gabriel Mountains, winds of 20-30 mph with 50-mph gusts would buffet the Santa Monicas and the San Fernando and Santa Clarita valleys, winds of 15-30 mph with 45-mph gusts would sweep the L.A. County coastal zone and inland Orange County.
