Jobs In Anaheim & Orange County? Come Find Them Wednesday

ANAHEIM, CA — This week, on Wed. Sept. 20, prospective employers from across Orange County will be ready to meet and greet with you. Have you dreamed of working in the travel and tourism industry? Or for one of the many across Anaheim city or county positions that are open? The City of Anaheim alongside the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce will cosponsor the ninth annual Anaheim/ OC Job Fair and Expo on September 20, 2017. The free event will focus on offering better career opportunities that will lead to higher paying jobs for Orange County and Anaheim residents.

“In the last few years we have seen the landscape of our workforce change. We find that most people have jobs but not careers. These are folks that did not take the college path, veterans, recent high school grads and others looking for a career change. This year, we wanted to partner with the trades and connect our community with apprenticeship programs. We have plenty of projects from new hotel developments to housing projects that will require trained men and women.” Said Todd Ament, Anaheim Chamber of Commerce President and CEO.

With unemployment at its lowest in 10 years, this year the job fair will be highlighting the importance of apprenticeships in the trade industry. According to the California Workforce Development Board, people who complete on-the- job trainings earn a median income of $65,000 a year in construction trades.

“Apprenticeships are good options for people who decided not to attend college, need a reliable source of income to pay their bills while they learn the occupation, or for individuals who are reentering the workforce,” said Ernesto Medrano, representative for the LA/OC Building and Construction Trades.

A calendar of workshops in the Anaheim Jobs website prior to the event will be available for those individuals who are not sure how to prepare for the event, and on the day of the event, three breakout sessions will help attendees with their job search:

The Job Fair will also include resume review and computer stations, a veteran information center and a dress to impress competition with exciting prizes.
The event is to take place at the Anaheim Convention Center Exhibit Hall E on Wednesday September 20, 2017 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
