SANTA ANA, CA —Police locked down a charter elementary school in Santa Ana Friday while an at-large parolee barricaded himself in a stranger's home.

At approximately 1 p.m., Santa Ana police attempted to pull over the suspect, Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said.

The driver jumped out of the car and fled officers, running inside a woman's home at Walnut and Maple streets.

The home was situated directly across the street from Edward B. Cole. Sr. Academy, Bertagna said.
The man remained inside, hiding until authorities allowed a K9 officer to enter the home and search him out.

"K9 Kaylee located the suspect inside the woman's bathroom," Bertagna reported. He is now in custody, according to the department.
