LePort Montessori School® Students Release Ladybugs for Earth Day
Students celebrated Earth Day and protecting the environment by releasing thousands of beneficial bugs into their schoolyard

Students at LePort Montessori School locations in Irvine bugged out in celebration of Earth Day as they released ladybugs and butterflies into the schoolyard and back into the environment. In each classroom, students learned about the fascinating life cycle of butterflies while observing their own caterpillars as they go through metamorphosis into butterflies. Students also learned how butterflies are essential to the ecosystem as natural pollinators.
In addition to the ladybug and butterfly release, students also planted seeds, gardened, and participated in various Earth Day-themed crafts. LePort Montessori School’s Earth Day activities foster social-emotional learning, scientific curiosity, and a sense of community responsibility in students.
