Man Accused Of Killing Elderly Mother Arrested In OC
The 50-year-old man was charged with elder abuse and murder for the death of his 82-year-old mother.
ORANGE COUNTY, CA — A man charged with killing his mother in Orange County turned himself in to police and was arrested, authorities said Monday.
Richard Towers, 50, was charged on Feb. 7 with murder and dependent elder abuse with a sentencing enhancement for great bodily injury to an elderly victim, court records say.
Towers is charged with killing 82-year-old Shirley Towers in January, the criminal complaint said.

Santa Ana police officers said they were called to a local hospital Jan. 15 regarding a case of suspected elder abuse.
According to authorities, Shirley Towers was brought in unconscious and with multiple wounds on her legs that officers say were consistent with neglect.

She was pronounced dead at the hospital on Jan. 25, authorities said. An arrest warrant was soon after issued for Richard Towers, authorities said.
