Man Fighting For His Life After Shooting In Orange County, Info Sought

The 48-year-old man was hospitalized in critical condition while the man accused of shooting him was arrested Monday.

GARDEN GROVE, CA — A 48-year-old man was hospitalized in critical condition while the man suspected of shooting him in Orange County was arrested Monday.

Officers responded at around 3:55 p.m. Monday to the 12100 block of Flagstone Avenue after receiving reports of an assault with a deadly weapon, according to the Garden Grove Police Department.

The responding officers located two men outside the house upon their arrival, with one of them suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body, police said.

Detectives identified the victim as Jeff Fulgham, 48, and the suspect as Dale Shroyer, 56.

Orange County Fire Authority personnel arrived at the location, where they immediately administered medical assistance before taking Fulgham to a hospital in critical condition.

Shroyer was detained without incident and was later placed under arrest and booked on suspicion of attempted murder, police said.

The motive behind the shooting remains under investigation.

Detectives said they believe, based on a preliminary investigation, that the shooting appears to be an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public, police said.
