Man Injured In UC Irvine Garage Fire
The fire was reported at 2:21 p.m. at 5 Pauling Court.

IRVINE, CA -- A man suffered burns Saturday while trying to put out a fire in the garage of his housing unit on the UC Irvine campus, authorities said. The fire was reported at 2:21 p.m. at 5 Pauling Court, Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Stephen Horner said.
Firefighters from the OCFA and Newport Beach Fire Department arrived within six minutes and it took them eight minutes to put out the flames, Horner said.
The 52-year-old victim was taken to a hospital for treatment of his burns. A woman who lives at the residence was unhurt, and no firefighters were injured.

No cars were in the garage so damage was confined to materials stored inside, Horner said. The residents were not displaced by the fire.
