Man Killed In Fatal Santa Ana Shooting, 2nd Man Injured

One man was killed and another was injured in a shooting Friday night.

SANTA ANA, CA — Two men were shot while driving in Santa Ana and one of them died, authorities said Saturday.

Officers were dispatched at about 9 p.m. Friday to the 1200 block of E. Borchard Avenue after a report that a man had been shot, according to the Santa Ana Police Department. Officers arriving at the scene located a 20-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body.

Paramedics rushed him to a hospital, where he was expected to survive, police said.

At 9:01 p.m., officers responded to reports of a man lying in the roadway in the 700 block of East Elder Avenue suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. That man, identified as David Nicholas Bravo Martinez, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said it appears the victims were driving in the area of the 700 block of East Elder Avenue when they were shot. The surviving victim then drove the vehicle to 1200 E. Borchard Avenue, where he called police to report that he and his friend had been shot.

The shooting was believed to be gang-related, according to police.
