Marine Dies During Live Fire Training At Camp Pendleton: Report

CAMP PENDLETON, CA — A Marine attending Camp Pendleton's School of Infantry-West died Thursday night during a live-fire training event, the Orange County Register reported.

While details surrounding the death were not released, an investigation into the circumstances behind the death is ongoing and the command is cooperating with the effort, military officials told the newspaper.

Capt. Josh Pena, spokesperson for the Training and Education Command, which runs the infantry school, told the OC Register that the live-fire exercise was part of routine training at the school.

The name of the Marine was not released.
