Neighbor Arrested On Suspicion Of Arson After Mobile Home Ignites

SANTA ANA, CA — After a fire severely damaged a Santa Ana mobile home one week ago, police charged 44-year-old Ruben Valadez Garcia with setting the blaze.

Garcia who was arrested Friday, is charged with arson of an dwelling and arson of property, both felonies.

The fire was reported about 8:45 a.m. last Thursday at the Gable Mobile Estates at 4801 W. First St., according to Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna.

Surveillance video shows a man, allegedly Garcia, setting two large bushes next to the mobile home ablaze, according to Bertagna.

The flames quickly spread to the front of the residence.

"The residents managed to get out safely, but the structure was red-tagged," Bertagna said. "The motive for the alleged arson is unclear."
