This OC City Issued $240K In Fines For 4th Of July Holiday

ORANGE COUNTY, CA — One Orange County city issued more than $250,000 in fines related to Fourth of July fireworks this past holiday.

The City of Orange said in their 2026 Fireworks Program report that eight households were fined a total of $240,000 for fireworks violations during the Fourth of July.

According to the city, outreach for fireworks-related fines started on June 22, when the Orange Police Department began deploying electronic signboards regarding the fines.

The police department also opened public fireworks reporting platforms for the community.

In addition, 200 educational fliers were give out in areas identified as having a high call volume.

In total, the city received 386 calls throughout Fourth of July weekend.

• 7 police department emails

Two-hundred and twenty-eight of those calls were received on Friday, July 4, according to the city.

Police say nearly 19 percent of the calls received between June 20 and July 4 were in what authorities describe as a "prohibited zone."
