OC Families Have Less Options As Diaper Bank Loses Funding

A resource many Orange County families rely on to acquire diapers for their babies is in danger of losing its funding.

ORANGE COUNTY, CA — A vital resource to the Orange County community may be closed, after the Orange County Diaper Bank announced that it may lose its funding in June, NBC Los Angeles reported.

“We are receiving signals that it’s unlikely in this fiscal environment that the state of California is going to have the amount of money or potentially any money to continue to support existing operations of the diaper banks,” Director Mark Lowry told NBC Los Angeles.

The diaper bank, which started in 2020, provides free diapers to thousands of families by distributing diapers to 80 nonprofits across the county. According to the report, the resource helps about 10,000 children a month.
