OC Homeowners Shocked At $26K HOA Fee For Emergency Roof Assessment: Report

SAN CLEMENTE, CA — Homeowners at a South Orange County condominium complex are speaking out after they received a more than $26,000 emergency assessment for roof replacements, ABC7 reported.

Beverly Albright, an 81-year-old resident living at the Vilamoura condominium complex in San Clemente, told ABC7 that the assessment has created uncertainty about her future.

"I will have to move. And this was my... I've worked very hard to make it so that I could be here," Albright told the broadcast station.

According to the report, residents at the 198-unit complex said each homeowner received a $26,000 emergency assessment for new roofs.

Vilamoura is one of the more notable places to buy condos in San Clemente, according to SanClementeRealEstate.com. The condos are located in the Rancho San Clemente area just east of the Golden State (5) Freeway.

According to the website, the area offers sweeping ocean views and low homeowners association dues.
