WESTMINSTER, CA — A man was rescued from "cold, fast-moving" water in Westminster on Sunday during the weekend storm, authorities said.

Firefighters responded in the afternoon to reports of a man clinging to a section of a culvert in a storm channel at Bolsa Avenue and Goldenwest Street, the Orange County Fire Authority said.

The first-arriving firefighters lowered inflated fire hoses into the culvert to catch the man in case he lost his grip on the cement, the agency said.

Crews positioned the truck's aerial ladder truck over the culvert, allowing technical firefighters to lower one crew member, secure the man and raise him to safety, officials said.

Paramedics assessed and took the man to the hospital for evaluation. His condition was not immediately available on Monday morning.
