OC Man Robbed Donut Shops, Subway Stores By Knifepoint: FBI

SANTA ANA, CA — A Santa Ana man pleaded guilty to one federal count of interference with commerce by robbery this past week, the FBI said in a statement.

Freddie Alexander Lopez, 24, confessed that he robbed or attempted to rob restaurants in Orange County by force and violence, authorities said.

Lopez also knowingly took cash from businesses and threatened employees by use of force, investigators said.

He was convicted of a string of robbery-related crimes committed on January 2026, according to an FBI statement.

On Jan. 27 in Santa Ana, Lopez robbed a Subway restaurant with a knife and demanded that the employee give him cash from the cash register.

Later, on Jan. 30, Lopez tried to rob a Subway in Fountain Valley with a knife, investigators said.

Later that day, Lopez robbed a Yum Yum Donuts store in Santa Ana with a knife and demanded cash from the register from the employee, investigators said.

Lopez is scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 2 and faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.
