OC Schools Placed On Lockdown, 1 Student Injured In Knife Fight

ORANGE COUNTY, CA — An Orange High School student with a weapon injured another student during a fight in a common area on campus Thursday, Dec. 8, the Orange Police Department said.

The fight initially prompted school officials to place Orange High School on a brief lockdown, and three other campuses close by were told to shelter in place for roughly an hour, a spokesperson for the department said in a statement.

Orange police officers were called to the high school at little after 1 p.m. According to the statement, two boys were fighting on campus and during the quarrel, one student drew a knife and stabbed the other student in the hand.

The victim was taken to an area hospital. According to police, the student left the campus before authorities arrived.

The lockdowns were lifted roughly an hour after the report was made, after authorities declared the campus safe.

As of Friday morning, the armed student was arrested and booked at Orange County Juvenile Hall, authorities said.
