OC Schools Threatened Friday Morning, Police On High Alert
An 18-year-old Florida student was arrested Friday afternoon in connection with the threats, Orange County authorities said.
WESTMINSTER, CA — A nonspecific threat to Orange County schools was made on social media, multiple law enforcement agencies reported, resulting in an increased police presence across Orange County campuses Friday morning.
As of Friday afternoon, an 18-year-old student of Taravella High School in Florida was arrested in connection with the social media threats.
"We want to thank the community for their patience and remind them that the safety of our communities and schools is always our top priority," the statement said.

School districts around the nation took extra security precautions in response to a vague school shooting threat spreading on social media Thursday and Friday.
It wasn’t immediately clear if it was the same threat prompting local school districts to increase security measures Friday.

School districts in North Carolina and Florida also announced increased security measures Friday. In North Carolina detectives were investigating a picture circulating on Snapchat showing a phone screen displaying a message that threatened to commit a school shooting on May 5 — the same threat that prompted school districts in Florida to announce extra precautions, FOX8 reported.
Several of the districts taking extra precautions have Orange in the name, including Orange counties in Virginia, Florida and Orange. However, it wasn't immediately clear if they were responding to the same threat.
