GARDEN GROVE, CA — A big rig jackknifed and spilled diesel fuel in an early morning crash on the rainy road of the Garden Grove (22) Freeway this morning, prompting a full closure of westbound lanes that extended into the morning commute.
The crash was reported at 1:41 a.m. just east of Harbor Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Jackknifing is the folding of an articulated vehicle so that it resembles the acute angle of a folding pocket knife.

Rescuers responded to the scene, but it was not immediately clear if anyone was critically injured.
Vehicles were being diverted from westbound freeway lanes onto Harbor Boulevard as a hazardous material crew was summoned to clean up the spill.
