SANTA ANA, CA — A choir director at a Southern California high school was arrested Friday after she agreed to meet a 17-year-old student to engage in sexual acts, authorities said Monday.

According to police, the teen — who is a senior at the high school — reported that he had been having sexual relations with his choir teacher, 37-year-old Yessenia Navarro Garcia, the director of the Vocal Music Program at Santa Ana High School.

The Orange resident has been employed full-time as a choir teacher for roughly five years, according to police.

She was booked into the Santa Ana Jail on several sexual assault-related charges with a bail set at $100,000.

According to her biography, which remained on the school's website as of 1 p.m. Monday, Garcia has worked at several other schools in Southern California — including Raymond Cree Middle School in Palm Springs, El Sol Science and Arts Academy in Santa Ana and Garden Grove Elementary Schools.

Santa Ana detectives believe there may be more victims to the crimes and asked anyone with information to contact the department at 714-245-8379 or call Orange County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-OCCS.
