1 Dead In Car-To-Car Shooting; Shooter At Large: Irvine Police

IRVINE, CA — A person in a vehicle was fatally shot by an attacker in a neighboring car Thursday in Irvine, according to police.

The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. at Athel Avenue and Sego Street, police said. The victim met up with a person in a black Mercedes and entered the vehicle on the passenger side, when a white Honda sedan pulled up and opened fire on the victim's side of the Mercedes, according to police.

The victim, a male who is not an Irvine resident, was taken to a hospital but died, police said. Both vehicles fled the area and no one was in custody as of 4:15 p.m., according to police.
