Police ID 4th Orange Shooting Victim, Suspect's Wife Weighs In
As police identified the fourth victim in the Orange mass shooting, the suspect's estranged wife said she "couldn't understand" his motive.

ORANGE, CA — Officials publicly identified the fourth victim of Wednesday's horrific shooting at a Southern California office building as 58-year-old Leticia Solis Guzman, according to the Orange Police Department.
Police have said the suspect, 44-year-old Aminadab Gaxiola Gonzalez, targeted the Unified Homes office and shared both personal and business relationships with each of the victims. Four people were shot to death, including a 9-year old child — and authorities are still scrambling to figure out why.
The suspect's estranged wife, Aleyda Mendoza, told the Associated Press she had worked in the same Orange County business for more than 10 years as a broker assistant.

In a text message to the AP, Mendoza said that she and Gaxiola had been separated for two years. During that time, she said he never told her anything about where he was staying or what he was doing.
"I can’t understand what went through his head to make such a terrifying decision," Mendoza wrote. "He left behind a sea of pain and grief for so many families who can’t find comfort."

Mendoza also said she and her children have been receiving threatening calls since the shooting.
"My heart is crushed, I still can’t accept that this happened," she wrote. "I keep closing my eyes and praying to God this is all just a bad dream and I’ll wake up soon."
Mendoza said the office community at Unified Homes was a supportive one.
"Unified Homes was my home for more than 10 years and they were my family," she wrote. "I learned everything I know there and they shaped who I am today."
Authorities have identified the people killed in the California attack as Luis Tovar, 50, who owned Unified Homes; Leticia Solis Guzman, 58; and Jenevieve Raygoza, 28, and her brother, Matthew Farias, 9.
Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer said at a Thursday news conference, "It appears that a little boy died in his mother's arms as she tried to save him during this horrific massacre."
The suspect was charged Friday with four counts of murder and three counts of attempted murder.
Charges against Gonzalez include a special circumstance allegation of multiple murders and two counts of attempted murder of a police officer, according to the Orange County District Attorney's Office.
Gonzalez fired at two police officers when they reached the scene of the shooting, where authorities say the suspect had chained the gates to the business complex closed with bicycle cable-type locks before the attack.
If convicted, Gonzalez could become eligible for the death penalty.
"The taking of the life of another human being is the most serious of crimes and the slaughter of multiple people while they were essentially locked in a shooting gallery is nothing short of terrifying," District Attorney Todd Spitzer said in a statement.

Gonzalez, who was shot by police in the courtyard of the building at 202 W. Lincoln Ave., is scheduled to be arraigned from his hospital bed Friday afternoon.
"Our hearts go out to the victims, their families and our community who have all been impacted," department officials wrote in a statement on Friday.
A GoFundMe effort was launched Thursday by Thalia Tovar — who said she was Tovar's daughter and Raygoza's sister — that had raised $20,075 by Friday afternoon. The fundraiser is meant to gather funds for funeral services and medical expenses for all the families affected, Tovar wrote.
"We are still in shock and trying to fathom and grasp our heads around this tragic event," Tovar wrote on the fundraising website. "Please keep all of us affected in your prayers, including our loved one who is still fighting for her life in critical condition. Any amount is appreciated."
