Authorities warned Cal State Fullerton students about a new scam targeting their parents' bank accounts.
ORANGE COUNTY, CA — Authorities warned Cal State Fullerton students about a new scam targeting their parents' bank accounts, KTLA reported.
According to the report, the scam involves calling the parents of students in the middle of the night and telling them their child has been arrested during a routine traffic stop. The scammer then usually claims the child was found holding drugs in their vehicle.
The scammer then apparently asks the parent to wire bail money to release their child from police custody.
