OC Power Outage Leaves Over 5,700 In The Dark

Over 5,000 were without Power in Inland Orange County. The cause is still under investigation.

SANTA ANA, CA — A city power outage Thursday affected multiple residences, businesses and schools in the city of Santa Ana. Thousands were without power as of 1:30 p.m. Thursday and Southern California Edison spokesperson says that they are currently analyzing the problem. At 4 p.m. power has not yet been fully restored.

The outage started just after 1:30 pm. 6,479 customers impacted. currently, 774 have been restored and over 5,700 remain without power for an undetermined period of time, Sally Jeun, Spokesperson for SCE said.

The Santa Ana School Police department is inspecting schools to see which are affected by the outage.

As of 3:30 p.m. there are three separate boundaries for the outages:

  • The north boundary: First Street; South: Borchad Ave; East: Ross; West: Huron Drive.
  • The north boundary: First Street; South: Edinger Avenue; East is Flower Street; West is Everglade Street.
  • The north boundary: Royal Lane; South: Edinger Avenue; East: Raitte Street; West: Arapaho Drive.

  • Pio Pico
  • Diamond
  • Monte Vista
  • Lincoln
  • Part of Santa Ana High School.

Classes were let out at 2:30 p.m., so it didn't affect lessons too much, said Santa Ana Unified School District spokeswoman Deidra Powell. After- school activities were continuing, but being "modified as needed," she said.

"It's not raining, school is out, there's less students there, so it worked out to our advantage," Powell said.
