Power Outage In Santa Ana After Explosion
A neighborhood remains in the dark in the area of S. Harbor Boulevard after a transformer explosion.
SANTA ANA, CA — Santa Ana police, SoCal Edison and Orange County Fire Authority raced to the scene of an exploded transformer vault.
Multiple residents called 911 at about noon, Wednesday, telling dispatch operators that they heard "several explosions,"on the 3000 block of S. Harbor Boulevard, Santa Ana Police Sgt. Anthony Bertagna reported.
Nearly 50 homes and businesses were left without power, according to SoCal Edison.

Two transformers blew up inside an underground vault, the force of the blast lifted a heavy concrete cover.
"The power outage will continue until further notice," Bertagna said.

Though SoCal Edison listed "equipment problems" as the reason for the outage, the specific cause of the explosion was not mentioned. Workers are still responding to the scene.
