Radiant Futures’ 7th Annual ¾ Time Dueling Pianos Event Scores $17K
Nonprofit's annual fundraiser defies gravity to score over $17,000 in support survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking
Wickedly good music and cheer were on the menu recently as a sold-out crowd swayed and clapped to their favorite tunes performed by dueling pianists at the seventh annual 3/4 Time Dueling Pianos fundraiser.
Named after the popular song “Defy Gravity” from the Broadway blockbuster Wicked, the much-anticipated event scored more than $17,000 for nonprofit Radiant Futures, formerly Women’s Transitional Living Center. All funds raised will help support survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking.
The performers again this year at the nonprofit’s Fullerton campus were Jake Cassman and Laura Wiley. The pair played and sang many musical requests, ranging from classic rock, to country, to rap and included “Defy Gravity” and a few others from a spooky playlist in keeping with the Halloween season.

Members of the audience, many wearing costumes, were also invited up to sing their personal favorites. Refreshments and beverages were served.
“We are delighted that this event has become a perennial favorite of our guests who want to make a significant impact on survivors through their generosity,” said Radiant Future Chief Executive Officer Mark Lee. “Together, we are building safer communities free from violence. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!“

The fundraiser’s name is derived from the unfortunate fact that one in three women and one in four men will experience domestic violence in their lifetimes.
