Radiant Futures’ Chief Advancement Officer Alycia Capone Honored at Annual 34th Senate District Event

Radiant Futures’ Chief Advancement Officer Alycia Capone was recently named a Woman of Distinction at the Six Annual 34^th Senate District Women of Distinction event that celebrated a group of distinguished women.

Sponsored by Sen. Tom Umberg, the program was held in honor of National Women’s History Month. District 34 includesSanta Ana, Anaheim, Placentia, Fullerton, Buena Park, La Habra, part of Orange, as well South Whittier in Los Angeles County.

In addition to naming Executive Director of the Orange County Labor Federation Gloria Alvarado the Woman of the Year, the event acknowledged 32 outstanding women leaders in nine categories.These included advocacy, arts and culture, business, education,health services, non-profit, public safety, student, veteran and volunteer/community service.

Capone was honored in the non-profit category along with Senior Housing Counselor Helen Tran of Homeownership OC; President and CEO Angie Rowe of Beyond Blindness; and Executive Director Janie Hecke of the Anaheim Community Foundation.

Demonstrating her leadership and dedication for over 20 years in the sector, Capone has spent the last decade committed to building something extraordinary at Radiant Futures

Joining when the organization was still known as Women's Transitional Living Center, she has been instrumental in growing it from the ground up, building programs, developing a community-focused department, and cultivating a staff culture that shows up every day with purpose and compassion. The breadth of services available to survivors across the 34th District reflects her leadership and the team she has helped build.

“What makes Alycia exceptional is not just her versatility, but her vision,” saidRadiant Futures CEO Mark Lee.“She has transformed the physical spaces where survivors heal, championing trauma-informed environments that communicate safety and dignity. Most notably, she was instrumental in creating the first sensory room for domestic violence survivors at Radiant Futures, a space designed to restore calm for those in crisis.

“Her leadership extends to the people on the front lines as well. Alycia has been a steadfast advocate for a living wage for all staff, recognizing that a team that feels valued is a team that can fully show up for survivors. She challenges those around her to think without limits, build solutions rooted in community, and always put people first. Alycia leads because she cares, and because of that, Radiant Futures is a stronger, more equitable, and more compassionate organization for everyone it serves. As the first domestic violence agency in Orange County and the third in the country, Radiant Futures is building a safer community by providing crisis support, services for all survivors, and education to prevent domestic violence and trafficking.

The range of services includes shelter and housing options designed with the interconnected goals of immediate safety and long-term stability.Counseling and holistic services include individual and group sessions for adult and children survivors, including art, and the sensory room.Legal services in areas such as immigration, divorce, child custody, restraining orders, and victim compensation, are also provided.
