Radiant Futures Holds Ribbon Cutting and Panel Discussion in Anaheim

Nonprofit Radiant Futures, formerly Women’s Transitional Living Center, recently held two important events at its Anaheim campus in conjunction with the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce.

Following a welcoming reception, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held to officially open the Anaheim campus that includes the organization’s corporate offices. Many community leaders from Anaheim and other cities were present.

A highlight of the morning was a panel discussion entitled “Building Safer Communities: Addressing Domestic Violence and Human Trafficking,” featuring Congressman Lou Correa, Senator Tom Umberg, and Anaheim Police Chief Rick Armendariz.

Moderated by Radiant Futures CEO Mark Lee, the panelists agreed that much has been accomplished to create a safer community for everyone, but that much more still needs to be done from a legislative and law enforcement perspective.

This includes the need to continue coordinating efforts among all sectors of federal, state and local government agencies, and community organizations in preventing and responding to any incidence of domestic violence.

Lee described the services that Radiant Futures offers in support of all survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking. These include a range of shelter and housing options designed with the interconnected goals of immediate safety and long-term stability. Counseling and holistic services include individual and group sessions for adult and children survivors, including art, animal assisted therapy, and a sensory room.

Radiant Futures also provides legal services in areas such as immigration, divorce, child custody, restraining orders, and victim compensation. From a community engagement perspective, the organization focuses on prevention and addressing the root causes of violence to drive public policy and systems-level change.

“This time of year reminds us not only of the importance of raising awareness about domestic violence, but also of the strength and resilience of the survivors we serve. Their courage to step forward and rebuild their lives, often against incredible odds, continues to inspire us daily,” Lee said in a recent newsletter produced by the nonprofit.
