Radiant Futures Multi-family Hope House Welcomes Residents

Today, a year after its formal opening, Hope House in Fullerton is a safe temporary home to survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking.

The custom-built California craftsman-style four-bedroom, two-bathroom, multi-family residence was built and is managed by nonprofit Radiant Futures, formerly Women’s Transitional Living Center.

Adding much-need capacity for the Transitional Housing Program run by the nonprofit, Hope House accommodates 16 to 20 survivors for up to 24 months at no cost to them. Funding for the more than $1 million structure was raised through the Hope House Capital Campaign.

Hope House residents have access to counseling, legal and holistic support services, an expert staff, and individual service plans in a shared, pet-friendly facility that allows them to build community in a secure and trauma-informed atmosphere.

On hand at the ribbon-cutting ceremony last year were Fullerton Mayor Fred Jung; Supervisor Doug Chaffee and his wife Paulette; and representatives of Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk-Silva, California Senator Josh Newman, and Congressman Lou Correa. Also attending were Fullerton City Manager Eric Levitt; Mark Jablonski, Radiant Futures board chair and Capital Campaign Steering Committee chair; Mark Lee, Radiant Futures chief executive officer; plus other board members; Radiant Futures staff; and other guests. The home was designed by Rick Crane Architecture and built by RDM General Contractors of Costa Mesa.

At the ribbon-cutting event for the home Chaffee said, “My wife Paulette and I are honored to be here to celebrate the opening of Hope House that will be a sanctuary for survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking. Too many of our community members have been affected by abuse, exploitation, and violence. Through the work of Radiant Futures, these survivors can heal and see a new radiant future of peace and wellbeing.”

“This four-bedroom home expands the capacity we have with our current 12-unit apartment property to provide a safe and nurturing environment for survivors and their children to heal and rebuild their lives,” said Lee.
