Radiant Futures' Sanders Named Chair of Family Violence Council

Daniel Sanders, Director of Legal Services at nonprofit Radiant Futures, formerly Women’s Transitional Living Center, Inc. (WTLC), has been named Chairperson for the Orange County Family Violence Council. This appointment marks the first time that a non-judicial officer has served in this role.

Sanders has overseen the Radiant Futures’ Legal Services Department for seven years. Previously he helped empower individuals and families in the CalWORKs program and has worked in other capacities to support wrongfully terminated employees, injured workers, and students with disabilities.

In his new role with the Council, he will lead the organization in pursuit of its goal to reduce and prevent family violence in Orange County and interact with its various subcommittees and task forces that are dedicated to finding collaborative solutions to help make our communities safer for everyone. His term ends in March of 2026.

Sanders previously held the roles of First Vice-Chairperson and Legal Issues Subcommittee Chair with the Council. He helped organize the 2023 Orange County Family Violence Conference and is currently helping plan and coordinate the 2024 Conference set for November.

Originally organized at the behest of the California Judicial Council and supported by the Orange County Board of Supervisors, the Council brings together all justice partners involved in every aspect of family violence and its effects on Orange County families.

Since 1994, this collaboration has included judges, representatives from the Orange County Superior Court, District Attorney, Public Defender, Probation, law enforcement agencies, domestic violence shelters and nonprofit organizations, victim and legal assistance programs, law schools, Social Services Agency, Child Protective Services, Adult Protective Services, Child Support Services, Orange County Bar Associations, medical providers and mental health professionals.

Joining Sanders as Council leaders are Roxanne Hernandez, Community Legal Aid SoCal, as First Vice Chairperson; Joanna Wong, Public Law Center, as Second Vice Chairperson; and Mia Hernandez, Waymakers, as Secretary.
