Cops Bust Gambling Ring At Two North OC Homes: Report
The house doesn't always win. Neighbors on a quiet Westminster street alerted police of strange goings-on leading to a significant arrest.
WESTMINSTER, CA — Twenty-six people were arrested in connection with an illegal gambling operation in Westminster overnight, Patch has learned. Both West County and Buena Park SWAT teams served warrants at two homes after a lengthy investigation into the alleged illicit activity, according to Westminster Police Cmdr. Cord Vandergrift.
Neighboring residents of this Treebark Circle home alerted police to the strange comings-and-goings during late night hours.
The subsequent investigation, lasting nearly two months, ended early Tuesday morning with the loud and bright "flash-bang" devices were used upon entry of the Westminster home. Nearby residents came out of their homes to hear officers demanding suspects leave the home with their hands raised, and to see over two-dozen people led from the properties.

Several neighbors expressed gratitude for police intervention into the supposed gambling operation. The Buena Park warrant was served on Premier Avenue, police said.
There were no injuries during the entrance to the homes or the arrests, Vandergrift said.
Many times, it is neighbors who report illegal activity that leads police to conduct investigations, according to Vandergrift.
