ANAHEIM, CA — Disneyland Resort went bananas Thursday, having an opening day of its own. The resort brought Banana Ball to Main Street with the Savannah Bananas and the Indianapolis Clowns, both signature and entertaining teams in a league of their own.

The Savannah Bananas, fresh off their games at Petco Park this week, brought their signature energy for the one-day takeover of Disneyland Resort, right before battling the Indianapolis Clowns at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, Friday and Saturday.

Fans cheered on the Savannah Bananas as they traveled in a cavalcade down Main Street, U.S.A., and had the chance to meet some of their favorite players, including Southern California local Kelsie Whitmore, one of the few women who play Banana Ball.

Disneyland welcomed the players who entertained park guests with show-stopping performances in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland Park and at Pixar Pier in Disney California Adventure Park.

Also present for the day, the Indianapolis Clowns made their Disneyland debut this year as they prepped for the weekend slate at Angel Stadium!

Posing in front of King Arthur Carrousel in Fantasyland, the players were all smiles on board hand-painted horses from this classic, 1955 opening day attraction.

The Clowns were originally the greatest barnstorming baseball team for over 50 years and one of the first barnstorming teams to travel the country, while helping to pave the way for Banana Ball by entertaining fans in a different way on a baseball field – read more on BananaBall.com to find out more about the league’s newest team!

Of course, Disneyland chefs created a selection of banana-themed bites and drinks for the special day.

"Guests enjoyed a selection of banana-flavored bites and beverages available across the resort, along with a one-day-only merchandise pop-up at the Downtown Disney District with a variety of team merchandise for purchase," they said.

The Savannah Bananas visited as the resort celebrated its milestone 70th Celebration through the summer.
