Sept. 11 Remembered Through Serving Others In Orange County
OC residents, churches and faith communities, and the surrounding areas, to use their hearts and hands to serve their neighbors this 9/11.
FULLERTON, CA — Orange County pauses on Sept. 11, remembering the time when the world stopped turning. For many, once the news had run its course, we turned off the television and tried to find a way to show the world we cared.
For Habitat for Humanity and Thrive, you can still do that throughout the month of September, through their Building on Faith 2019 program.
Thrivent members and other volunteers will work on a community improvement project to make a difference for affordable housing.

Habitat for Humanity, working with Thrivent, helps families in need of a safe and decent place to call home.
"With our communities, who put God’s love into action by pooling their power and passion, our partnership helps both those giving and those receiving on their journey to a more content, confident and fulfilling life," a spokesperson said.
Habitat OC and the Fullerton Neighborhood Revitalizing programis on a mission to make their mark in the worlds largest book-sharing movement.
Volunteers can participate in constructing and collecting the books for 10 Little Libraries that will help build community, spark creativity, and inspire readers.
There are also a variety of other volunteer opportunities that will take place throughout September, with the partnership “build” opportunity on September 11, 2019.
“Building on Faith is an opportunity for Fullerton and Santa Ana residents, churches and faith communities, and the surrounding areas, to use their hearts and hands to serve their neighbors,” said Ariel Hyatt, Director of Faith and Community Relations. “The event is designed so that anyone who wants to improve a place to call home can participate, and we are looking to engage 100 volunteers in making a difference.”
The events held in Fullerton and Santa Ana are part of a broader effort that includes events in multiple communities across the US.
