Serving Their Community, One Good Deed At A Time In Anaheim

ANAHEIM, CA — Two Anaheim Police Officers on patrol shifted into boy scout mode when they saw a resident in need on Monday. The afternoon sun was hot, the air still, and officers turned on to North Harbor Boulevard.

Officers Uribe and Ungureanu were out on patrol Monday afternoon when they noticed the elderly gentleman outside of his home, Anaheim Police Sgt. Shane Carringer told Patch.

The man was struggling to mow his lawn in the 90-degree heat.

Instead of just driving by, they decided to lend a hand, sharing conversation while they worked.

Officers Uribe and Ungureanu learned that the homeowner has lived in Anaheim for over 13 years. He still maintains his own property, as well as that of many of his neighbors, mowing for those who are unable to do the job, themselves.

The officers stepped up, and completed the lawn-mowing for him.

Residents praised Uribe and Ungureanu's excellent work, for remembering to serve as well as protect. In the social media post, shared and commented on multiple times, fans praised the department for going above and beyond the call of duty.

"Imagine, if each and every one of us went as far out of our way to lend a helping hand to someone in need!" one reader said.

Another added, "We hear so much about what is wrong, happy that you shared there is right and good, too!"

Acts like this are things that our officers do every day, Carringer told Patch.

"The actions of these two officers are what we expect from all of our Anaheim Police officers," he said. "They aren't always captured on film, but sometimes those are the most worth while of all."
