Sheriff's Teen Academy Accepting Applicants: Orange County

This summer, let your 13-17 year old get a good glimpse of what life is like for the deputies of the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

ORANGE COUNTY, CA —It's like camp, with sheriff's deputies as your counselors and community service hours to put in the bank! wait, what? Seriously, if your teenage child is interested in learning what it's really like to work in law enforcement, this will be right up their alley.

The Orange County Sheriff's Department is once again offering their Teen Academy in 2018. This six-day intensive workshop designed to be a fun, hands-on experience to increase young adults’ understanding of the operations of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

Instructors will encourage students to ask questions and actively participate in practical demonstrations. Teens will learn various topics the training academy, traffic laws, patrol, crime scene investigations, and see K-9, helicopter and harbor patrol demonstration, and more.

Plus, this is a great way for local high school students to earn community service hours toward their graduation requirement.

The Teen Academy is open to youth ages, 13 to 18. The 2018 Teen Academy will take place Monday, July 16 through Saturday, July 21 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. The application for the Teen Academy may be downloaded here. Completed applications must be received by Friday, May 31, 2018.
