Moon and Kim were originally arrested in 2025, after killing businessman Cuauhtemoc Garcia, 66, who had parked his SUV along a bikeway in Cerritos with plans to take a walk in February, according to prosecutors.

One detective testified that Kim wrote, “Dirty deed Cerritos Bloomfield” in her diary on the day of Garcia's death, the SFGate reported.

Garcia was approached by two people who demanded his car keys, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. When he refused to hand them over, he was shot and killed.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department released a surveillance image of a man and a woman believed to be the killers, seen in the area at the time of the shooting.

Soon after, someone recognized Moon and Kim as the same pair in a viral TikTok video recently filmed by an influencer visiting Southern California from Naples, Florida.

The video was reportedly filmed at a Panera Bread outdoor dining area in Cypress days after the shooting.

The Naples TikToker filmed a brief, hostile encounter with two people.

In the video, the pair, later identified by detectives as Moon and Kim, are eating lunch when they angrily rattle off a string of insults peppered with racist slurs directed at the Florida couple seated at an adjacent table.

When media outlets aired the images of the wanted killers, a viewer recognized the wanted pair from the TikTok video, according to the Los Angeles District Attorney's office.

The pair was subsequently arrested.

According to SFGate, a transcript of Moon and Kim's hearing included testimony from LASD detectives involved with the case.

Investigators said that multiple diaries were found in the 2018 Toyota Prius that the siblings lived in laying out a plan to kill their older sister and her family, including a mention of ordering a gun and stealing bullets from a Sportsman's Warehouse, the report said.
