Solar Company Scam Hits Orange County Facebook Pages
A solar company touting the city of Lake Forest's seal is doing so against the city's wishes.

ORANGE COUNTY, CA βA fake Facebook page has claimed that multiple cities across Orange County and the Southwest were giving away solar panels, residents reported over social media.
Residents of Lake Forest, Temecula and La Quinta also reported seeing the scam, usually, in conjunction with a city seal and the words "(City name) is set to give solar panels to residents" next to an "apply now" button. Residents in Elk Grove, Nevada also reported the scam.
The use of a city seal is an important matter, representatives of the city of Lake Forest said over social media.

When it came to their attention that a city seal was being used in conjunction with a solar program, they decided to do something about it.
According to officials, the Quantum Solar company "makes it look like the city of Lake Forest is offering a solar program," they said. "We're not affiliated with the company or offering any solar programs."

Calls to Quantum Solar revealed that their phone number was not connected, and there was no website associated with the account, further implicating the company as a scam.
The city is not set to give solar panels to residents, city representatives have said.
