Here are the top stories today in Orange County:

  1. Orange County's emergency responders are warning residents about the danger of using fireworks on the Fourth of July, as the area has "tinder-dry conditions." Orange County only permits 10 cities to use clear-marked, state-approved fireworks over the holiday weekend: Anaheim, Buena Park, Costa Mesa, Fullerton, Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, Santa Ana, Stanton, Villa Park and Westminster. Hefty fines of up to $1,000 will be issued for anyone in possession of illegal fireworks, officials said. You can read more about this story here: (Orange County Patch)
  2. A stolen Olympic Gold Medal was found Monday night in a plastic bag in Anaheim. The gold medal, won by Olympic volleyball player Jordyn Poulter, was stolen last month from her parked car. The bag containing the gold medal was found at the Noel Barbershop at 417 N. State College Blvd. by the business owners, Maria Carrillo and Noe Hernandez. (City News Service)

From above the water line, the seagulls still chant "Mine! Mine! Mine!" but Disney Imagineers have been busy "refreshing and adding new touches." Disneyland Resort Project Manager Jibram Martinez said the ride is "more immersive, more colorful and engaging."(Orange County Patch)

Are you an Orange County resident looking for an investment alternative to the stock market?

Bloomberg recently asked experts where they’d invest $100,000 right now, and many of them had the same answer: fine art.

Thinking you can’t afford a Picasso? Well in 2012, Congress passed the JOBS Act, which allowed for the securitization of artwork. A company called Masterworks.io built the largest platform for buying and selling art securities. In the past, you could only buy shares of companies like Apple, but with this investing app, you can unlock this powerful investment.

Meaning, you can invest in shares of million-dollar artwork. And in uncertain times, it turns out, fine art may be a wise investment. Here’s why:

  • Low correlation to stocks according to Citi
  • Contemporary art historically returns 23.2 percent when inflation is >3 percent
  • Contemporary art prices outpaced the S&P 500 by 164 percent (1995-2021)
