Store Owner Fires At Robbers In Attempted Heist In Huntington Beach

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA — A store owner exchanged gunfire with several armed people after they reportedly forced their way into his business and attempted robbery over the weekend.

The incident ended with the suspects leaving in two vehicles, with one crashing later that day in Los Alamitos after a police pursuit, according to the Huntington Beach Police Department.

One suspect described as a juvenile was arrested after the crash on suspicion of robbery, authorities said.

The attempted robbery happened at around 4 p.m. near Algonquin Street and Davenport Drive, according to a HBPD spokesperson.

The store was identified as Isabella's Fine Jewelry, a representative for the store wrote in an Instagram post Friday.

"Suspects forcibly entered a business with weapons and an exchange of gunfire occurred as the store owner defended himself," the department wrote in a statement.

The owner of the store was not hurt, but a customer was cut by shattered glass and had minor lacerations treated, police said.

A description of the possible suspects in the attempted robbery and more information were not immediately released as part of the ongoing investigation.
