Teen Disappears While Swimming Off Orange County Coast
A search was underway along the shore of Huntington Beach for a teen who was swept away in the coastal town's waters.
HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA — Authorities were searching for a teenager who went swimming and failed to return Sunday night in Huntington Beach.
The search started Sunday night after authorities said two teens went swimming in the ocean near lifeguard tower 11, between Twin Dolphin and Huntington streets, ABC 7 reported. One did not make it back to shore.
Huntington Beach firefighters said they were alerted around 9 p.m.

Divers and swimmers searching for the teen were pulled out of the water around 10:40 p.m., KTLA reported.
The search continued on land and in the air, authorities said.

According to Huntington Beach Public Affairs Manager Jennifer Carey, there were strong rip currents earlier in the day.
The gender and age of the missing teen was not immediately available.
