A three-year-old girl died from possible heat stroke complications in Anaheim after she was found unconscious in a car alongside her mother.
ORANGE COUNTY, CA — A toddler died from possible heat stroke complications in Anaheim after she was found unconscious in a car alongside her mother on Friday, Sept. 6, amid a scorching and powerful heat wave.
It was around 96 degrees Friday when police were called to the area, with temperatures reaching as high as 112 degrees in Orange County.
Anaheim police officers responded at around 4:20 p.m. to a medical emergency in a neighborhood in the 1300 block of Fashion Lane, police said.

Emergency responders gave CPR to a 3-year-old girl after a family member pulled her out of the car and attempted to provide first aid.
According to police, the girl's mother was found unconscious in the car.

Both were hospitalized, but the girl died at the hospital with the preliminary cause of death being heat stroke complications. The official cause of death has not been released.
According to police, the mother has since recovered and was being monitored at a hospital. It was not immediately clear if she would be charged.
